“My name is Delaine Carlson. I grew up in a small community in Nova Scotia with a large forest and lake in my backyard. In the world around me, then and now, something always catches my eye inspiring my creative spirit.

I have tried various mediums including acrylic, pastel, silk screening, photography, ink drawing and watercolour. I have shown my work at the Charles Macdonald Concrete House Museum, The Design Cafe, Acadia University Art Gallery Show, local venues and was the first East Coast artist to be shown in the Quint, an online art magazine with the University of the North, Manitoba.

I am a self taught artist. With books to study, a love of the outdoors, and gentle instruction from friends and fellow artists, I took the leap from artwork hanging in my hallway to public display. My children, husband and friends have always been a strong presence to lean on. Their interests, stories, thoughts, photos and happenings of everyday life are always a joy and reason to jump into another project.

I hope you find something in my work that interests you or touches you in some way.”
