On the 18 October, the members of the Artists Circle participated in an Introduction to Gouache workshop with Michelle Darwin. The workshop was well organized, with information on the different uses for gouache in your painting, demonstrations on how to use gouache and time to try all that we learned in practical exercises.
About Michelle
Michelle Darwin is a painter who creates art that is rich in mood, colour, and expressive feeling. She specializes in paintings of homes, gardens, and meaningful places. She seeks to capture a sense of place, of memory, and of the poetry of everyday life in her work. She has released collections of original artwork as well as fine art prints and cards. She lives a short walk from the ocean on Nova Scotia’s South Shore and can often hear the sound of waves from her garden. She regularly shares behind-the-scenes, new paintings, and reflections on living seasonally and finding creative flow in her Studio List email letter. She currently works in gouache and acrylic. April 2025
Jude Caborn instructed a watercolor workshop on Looks Likes Stain Glass and also painting on Yupo paper. It was a fun and learning experience. Jude is a very accomplished artist and is happy to pass along information she has gained over the years. It is always a pleasure to have Jude instruct one of our workshops. May, 2024

On the 11 May 2024 our members participated in a workshop on Mixed Media instructed by Amanda Suutari. Some members have created art in mixed media and collage, but for others it was there first time with this new art form. It was an enjoyable learning experience for everyone and we got to create some amazing pieces. Our thanks to Amanda for her excellent instructions.






On the 1 October, the members of the Artists Circle attended a workshop at the Wilmot Community Centre, instructed by Jude Caborn.


Jude instructed the class on using gesso built up grounds to create some beautiful art pieces. Jude was a most energetic, knowledgeable and entertaining instructor. The art pieces created were beautiful and shown below. Everyone who attended learned something new and had a wonderful time creating their pieces. Many thanks to Cindy Rosser for organizing this enjoyable workshop.











How to Photograph Your Paintings”
Members of the Artists Circle participated in a workshop on “How to Photograph Your Paintings” by Amy Holloway. Organized by Artists Circle members Cindy Rosser and Aprille Janes.

The workshop was held on the 10 June 2023 at the Community Hall in Margaretsville, with a great view of the beautiful Bay of Fundy.
Amy also does personal photography, personal branding photography which is photos taken of a person or group to raise awareness of who they are, what they do and what they sell.
Amy displayed the items she uses to photography art work. She emphasized the importance of proper lighting and how to achieve true quality photos of your art using a few items to create good lighting. Lighting and setup will determine the quality of you photos to post on your social media accounts or show to customers wishing to acquire a piece of your art. Also for making prints.
