I was interested in Art ever since I can remember. As a child much of my spare time was spent drawing. Growing up on a farm meant that I was well acquainted with nature.
While pursuing studies as a teacher I took any art courses that were available, including Art History from St. Mary’s University. Although I was a Math teacher I taught several classes in Art.
My painting began in 1971 in Lower Sackville under a local teacher – Bronwin Jones. Over the years I was largely self-taught but attended many workshops by well known artists.
I have exhibited at Beals in Peggy’s Cove and with the Contemporary Art Society, Halifax, also the Working Artist’s Guild, Lower Sackville and other Halifax shows. I have won Best in Show awards at the Provincial Exhibition, Truro and the Annapolis Valley Exhibition.
For seven years I taught Oil Painting for Sackville Recreation and continued to teach in Greenwood at my studio for eighteen years.
For over twenty-two years I have been a member of the Artists’ Circle, Greenwood and show at the Art Shack in Margaretsville and the Apple Bin Gallery at the Valley Regional Hospital.
