Preferred Mediums: Watercolour and Acrylic

Joan moved back to the Annapolis Valley in 1979 after 12 years in Ontario and now resides in Kentville. As an avid photographer with a love of nature, rural Nova Scotia became a haven. Continuing Ed classes were an introduction to acrylic painting. With sketching a passion in the early years, painting became a new venture. She hasn’t looked back since. Heritage Barns, landscapes, and seascapes are high on the list of subject matter along with animal studies.

As a realist, Joan has been painting for some 40 years working in acrylic, watercolour, oil, coloured pencil, pen & ink and graphite. Paint The Town in Annapolis Royal, NS, has been an event she has enjoyed for a number of years. It is a wonderful venue to meet new artists and mingle with long time acquaintances.

Joan has directed a lot of energy toward the Arts and finds the continual progress of her artwork and its involvement in the community very rewarding. Art is a very individual challenge and she encourages everyone she meets to seek and develop their creative abilities.

Past President of the Artists’ Circle, Greenwood and currently a member of Evangeline Artists Co-Op, Wolfville. She has been Co-Chair of Alliance of Kings Artists several terms and as Past Chair managed the Castle Art Gallery, Upper Clements Park for 1998 and 1999.
